DESCRIPTION:One of our region’s most aggressive invasive species\, autumn olive\, has been living at the Schuler Farm for far too long! Join staff from GTRLC and CAKE CISMA in removing this shrubby invader from a conservation easement property. \nThe Basics: \nGTRLC will teach you everything you need to know about tool use\, safety\, and how to remove autumn olive. No prior experience is necessary! This event will be moderately strenuous\, with participants using hand loppers to remove branches\, and often bending over to grab and drag branches. Please take your time and work at your own pace. \nWe will be removing autumn olive with hand tools and hauling brush into piles to decompose. \nWhat should I bring? \n\nDress for the weather! Always check the forecast in advance\nLeather gloves\, long sleeves\, and long pants are strongly recommended – Autumn Olive has thorns!\nSturdy\, close-toed shoes that can handle some mud\nBring a reusable water bottle and some snacks\nSunscreen and bug spray for your safety and comfort\n\nAs this takes place on private property\, only registered participants will be sent the exact meeting location.
